NEW CENTURY HEALTH IPA TO IMPLEMENT HEALINX™ SYSTEM TO PROMOTE ONLINE PATIENT COMMUNICATION WITH DOCTORS
Medical Organization Integrates Secure Communication Into Integrated Healthcare Delivery System
ALAMEDA, CA, June 6, 2000 - Healinx Corporation, the premier provider of secure Web-based doctor-patient communication tools, today announced that New Century Health (NCH), a multi-specialty IPA, will incorporate the Healinx system into its relationship with all its patients. Healinx becomes apart of New Century's contractual relationship with Humana's commercial and Medicare HMO programs. Enrollees of Humana's programs will be able to choose a primary care or specialist doctor easily on the NCH Web site and then communicate with the selected doctor through the Healinx Web-based service.
Once New Century Health primary care and specialist doctors register with Healinx, their patients and self-insured employers will be able to go directly to the doctor's Healinx Web site for secure online communications. Patients will be able to use the online services to request prescriptions, refills, appointments, and referrals to specialists, engage in consultation, access their medical profile, and, together with their doctors, improve wellness through preventive care measures.
The Healinx system includes a patent-pending workflow tool that mimics the doctor's existing practice environment. Incoming patient messages are automatically routed to delegate workload effectively. The unique message templates generated by the system greatly reduce input for both patients and doctors. In addition, the templates make communication more concise and accurate, reducing the need for time-consuming back and forth conversations, and minimizing "phone tag," chart pulls and miscommunication .
"Healinx allows our physician Care Net (PCN) to leverage the power of the Internet safely," said Mark Kahler, MD, College Park Family Physicians, an NCH member. "With the Healinx communication technology, PCN becomes a secure, feature-rich program for everyone employers, employees, doctors and patients."
"The Healinx system is very adaptable," said Giovanni Colella, MD, president and CEO of Healinx Corporation. "It offers individual doctors, group practices, healthcare and managed care organizations the means to incorporate the Internet into their practices and businesses. By substituting online for traditional communications, individual doctors, groups and organizations can provide patients with higher quality care with greater efficiencies."
