HOSPITAL WOUND HEALING CENTERS TO USE HEALINX SYSTEM TO CONNECT PATIENTS AND DOCTORS VIA THE INTERNET
Sechrist Integrates Secure Communication Into Integrated Healthcare Delivery System
ALAMEDA, CA, July 6, 2000 - Healinx Corporation, the premier provider of secure Web-based doctor-patient communication tools, today announced that Sechrist Clinical Services will provide the Healinx system for the company's Comprehensive Wound Healing Center— patients. The Healinx secure messaging system will allow Sechrist Clinical Services' patients to contact their doctors over the Internet regarding their treatment programs and support services.
Sechrist Clinical Services, Inc., a subsidiary of Sechrist Industries, Inc., develops and operates Comprehensive Wound Healing Centers for hospitals throughout the United States. Each center provides a multidisciplinary program of treatment and support services for cost-effective management of both acute and chronic problem wounds. At each site, Sechrist's medical directors and panel physicians would be offered the opportunity to use the Healinx system.
"The introduction of the Healinx system to our Comprehensive Wound Healing Centers allows us to supply an additional line of communication for our patients," said Terry Bayer, president and chief operating officer of Sechrist Clinical Services, Inc. "Sechrist hopes to collaborate with Healinx in the future on other exclusive ventures, such as a disease management module for wound care."
The first site to implement the Healinx system will be Loma Linda University Medical Center in Loma Linda, Calif., where Takkin Lo, MD M.P.H., CHT, the regional medical director of Sechrist Clinical Services, also serves as director of the Baromedicine and Wound Care Program.
"The partnership between Sechrist and Healinx will allow us to utilize the Healinx prescription refill module, which will save time and benefit both our doctors and our patients," Dr. Lo said.
The Healinx system includes a patent-pending workflow tool that mimics the doctor's existing practice environment. Incoming patient messages are automatically routed to delegate workload effectively. Message templates generated by the system greatly reduce typing for both patients and doctors. In addition, communication is more concise and accurate.
"The Healinx system is the perfect communication solution for the Comprehensive Wound Healing Centers because patients often have several doctors contributing to their treatment," said Giovanni Colella, MD, president and CEO of Healinx Corporation. "With Healinx, doctors can easily, conveniently and securely consult with other doctors about patients online, minimizing phone tag, chart pulls and miscommunication."
With Healinx technology, patients of Comprehensive Wound Healing Centers will be able to go directly to their doctor's Healinx Web site, where they can securely communicate online. At the Web site, patients can request appointments, prescriptions, refills, referrals to specialists, engage in consultation, access their medical profile online, and, together with their doctor, improve wellness through preventive care measures.
