HEALINX CORPORATION AND EXPRESS SCRIPTS ENHANCE ONLINE PHARMACY BENEFIT MANAGEMENT

Relationship Will Extend Messaging Platform to Doctor-patient-pharmacist Communication

Alameda , CA, December 10, 2001 -- Healinx Corporation, the premier provider of Web-based, doctor-patient communication services and Express Scripts, one of the largest pharmacy benefit managers in North America, will supply prescription benefit information to physicians who prescribe medications online using the Healinx messaging platform.

Starting in the first quarter of 2002, formulary and drug benefit information provided by Express Scripts on behalf of its plan sponsors will be incorporated into eScript, the electronic prescription service embedded within the Healinx messaging platform. Processing more than three million prescriptions annually, eScript serves not only as a prescription authorization service but also as an electronic prescription writer. With these capabilities, eScript effectively extends the Healinx messaging platform from doctor-patient communications to doctor-patient-pharmacist communications.

Under the terms of the agreement, physicians will be able to access prescription benefit information at the point of care, including relative drug costs and plan sponsor-specific formularies. Patients will be able to receive prescription authorizations and assess delivery options online, ensuring the optimal combination of cost and convenience. Through eScript, prescription authorizations for Express Scripts members may be sent to any pharmacy in the Express Scripts' network.

By sharing pharmacy benefit information online, the relationship will help health plans and employers manage prescription drug costs by maximizing formulary compliance, promoting appropriate use of generic medications, and raising awareness of prescription mail-order benefits.
