HEALINX CLOSES $19 MILLION ROUND OF FUNDING

U.S. Venture Partners lead round which includes Venrock Associates, SI Venture Management, CIBC Oppenheimer and Concord

Alameda, CA, February 22, 2000 - Healinx Corporation, the premier Application Service Provider (ASP) of Web-based doctor-patient communications tools, today announced that it has closed its Series C round of venture capital financing. Totaling $19 million, the round was led by U.S. Venture Partners. Venrock Associates, SI Venture Management (a GartnerGroup affiliate), CIBC Oppenheimer, and Concord also participated.

Healinx is the only Internet ASP today to offer solutions that build an ongoing personal dialogue between patients and their own doctors. With Healinx, patients can securely communicate online with their own doctor, schedule appointments, request prescriptions, refills and referrals to specialists, engage in consultation, access their medical profile online, and together with their doctor improve wellness through preventive care measures.

"We invested in Healinx because it has the best Internet link between the two most important elements in healthcare--the patient and doctor," said Phil Young, general partner of U.S. Venture Partners, who also joined the Healinx Board of Directors. "We believe Healinx is both the technology and market leader in providing doctor- and user-friendly Web-based communication between patient and doctor."

"This funding from top tier venture capital firms represents an impressive vote of confidence for Healinx and its business model," said Giovanni Colella, MD, president and CEO of Healinx Corporation. "We believe that Healinx is setting the standard for the online doctor-patient relationship by helping doctors manage their patient relationships, and offering patients enhanced communication and care from their doctors."

Patrick Latterell, a general partner at Venrock Associates added, "Venrock is very pleased to join the Healinx team to help introduce the first sophisticated medical communication application which we believe can finally enable both patients and their medical care providers to communicate via the Internet in a mutually satisfactory fashion. Healinx provides a very important new tool for doctors to offer their patients who prefer the convenience of asynchronous but reliable communication via the Web, and simultaneously enables doctors and their staff to more effectively provide comprehensive high-quality care for their patients." Latterell reiterated Venrock's strong commitment to Healinx with his joining the Board of Directors with this financing.

Growing Support
Over 1,000 doctors and several thousand patients are already using the Healinx system. Recent endorsements of medical groups, hospitals and associations across the country will give the company exposure to more than 100,000 practicing doctors over the next few months.

"We believe that Healinx is on the forefront of a revolution that's about to occur in the doctor/patient relationship," said Manny Fernandez, managing director of SI Venture Management and chairman of the board of Gartner Group. "They provide a secure, Web-based, efficient means for patients to communicate with their doctors, and meet critical needs for both doctors and their patients." Fernandez has also accepted an appointment to the Healinx Board of Directors.
