RELAYHEALTH CORPORATION ANNOUNCES RELEASE OF RELAYHEALTH 5.0

Fifth-generation secure messaging platform improves teamwork, streamlines workflow and helps medical practices meet HIPAA privacy requirements

Emeryville, Calif., March 27, 2003 — RelayHealth Corporation (formerly Healinx), the nation's premier provider of Web-based, doctor-patient communication services, today announced the release of RelayHealth 5.0, the latest version of its secure messaging service for healthcare organizations and their patients.

RelayHealth 5.0 incorporates features that enhance clinician efficiency and facilitate closer teamwork within healthcare organizations. "With this release, we're particularly grateful to the many large health systems actively using our service," said Giovanni Colella, MD, president and chief executive officer of RelayHealth. "By incorporating feedback from our active and extensive user base including thousands of clinicians, we've achieved a new standard for secure healthcare messaging."

The result is RelayHealth 5.0, a highly customizable secure messaging platform featuring a flexible workflow engine to meet the needs of large and small medical practices alike. RelayHealth 5.0 is built using Microsoft .NET technology, facilitating tighter integration with other Web applications and Web services. "Moving to .NET improves the performance and scalability of our ASP-delivered Web-based application, while enabling us to dramatically reduce development time" remarked Marcos Athanasoulis, Vice President of Product Development at RelayHealth.

RelayHealth 5.0 adds a number of new customizable features to assist medical practices in streamlining clinical and administrative workflows related to e-communication. A new, highly flexible Notification Engine enables clinical users to dictate when and how they are notified of messages delivered to their RelayHealth inbox—clinicians or their designated staff members can be notified immediately or periodically via e-mail, fax or pager, for example. "Message notification and monitoring features that facilitate faster response will result in higher levels of patient satisfaction with the service" commented Eric Liederman, MD MPH. Dr. Liederman recently completed a study of RelayHealth in which physician response time was highly predictive of patient satisfaction with the service. Satisfaction rates exceeded 90% among patients who received a next-day response. These results will appear in an upcoming issue of the Journal of the American Medical Informatics Association (JAMIA).

Also new with RelayHealth 5.0, a Training Simulator enables physicians and their staff to gain experience and confidence with the messaging features of RelayHealth prior to "going live" with patients. "The new Training Messages feature represents an important new service tool for us, enabling clinicians and staff to get up to speed more quickly and to service patients more effectively" said Ken Tarkoff, Vice President of Client Services at RelayHealth. "With the Training Message Suite, clinical users can familiarize themselves with the tools and workflow associated with each message ahead of time."
