South Florida Pediatric Partners Offers Patients Secure Online Access to Healthcare

SFPP Selects the RelayHealth® Service for Doctor-Patient Communication

Ft Lauderdale, FL, June 9, 2006  — South Florida Pediatric Partners (SFPP), affiliated with Kelson Pediatric Partners of Denver, Colorado, today announced a successful partnership with RelayHealth Corporation in providing patients and physicians with secure online access to healthcare communication.

SFPP provides healthcare services to patients from their ten offices in the tri-county area of Miami-Dade, Broward and Palm Beach, all of which offer convenient hours including After Hours, Weekends, and Holidays. They introduced secure online communication to their pediatric practices in phases beginning in December of 2005. Now all 28 physicians and their staff use the RelayHealth service with their patients.

"We're looking to be creative and innovative, not only to improve our patients' satisfaction but to provide high-quality care," explains Nina Sanchez, MD, Chief Medical Officer of SFPP. Parents and caregivers can go online to connect with the office to request appointments, referrals, lab results, medication renewals, and to ask questions of the doctor or staff. In addition, patients can skip a trip to the office for non-urgent healthcare issues and see their doctors online using a webVisit®. Communications are private, HIPAA-compliant and more secure than email.

Esther Contreraz, Chief Operating Officer, explains, "Our patients are very important to us so we're providing them with the means to contact their physician or medical practice in the most convenient way and time for them. RelayHealth allows our patients not to have to wait on hold or call us back multiple times."

Using RelayHealth, SFPP patients can maintain their personal health information in one secure area which they can share with any doctor utilizing RelayHealth. "This makes it so easy for our patients to visit specialists when necessary," notes Judy Thomas, Director of Operations.

Through a program sponsored by Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Florida, RelayHealth offers all of the SFFP patients the safety and convenience of accessing their own doctors online for non-urgent matters. "We're very pleased to bring the convenience of secure online communication to our members here in Florida," said Dr. Mel Fletcher, a Medical Director of BCBSFL in south Florida. "This opportunity represents another accomplishment in our ongoing effort to create opportunities that allow us to increase patient access, improve safety, and to provide our members with more choices for managing their healthcare needs."
