New York IPA Selects McKesson for Secure Online Communication

North Shore University Hospital Medical Staff Independent Practice Association Partners with McKesson for Secure Messaging Services to Promote Improved Patient Quality and Access

Emeryville, CA and Great Neck, NY, August 16, 2006  — McKesson Provider Technologies and North Shore University Hospital Medical Staff Independent Practice Association (NSUHMSIPA) today announced an agreement to make RelayHealth online communication services available to patients of a core group of its primary care physicians. NSUHMSIPA represents private physicians at North Shore University Hospital, one of metropolitan New York City's leading hospital centers.

Consistent with its focus on healthcare excellence, NSUHMSIPA is providing an innovative way for patients to connect with their providers online. "When patients have easy access to their physicians, they are better connected to their healthcare," said Gary Mirkin, M.D. NSUHMSIPA's president. "This can create more satisfied patients and improved clinical outcomes. In addition, research has demonstrated that quality of care can improve dramatically for chronic patients who are managed online. We're excited to work with McKesson to offer this service to our patients."

NSUHMSIPA is inviting patients to contact their office online to maintain their personal health records at home, view prescription medication lists and request renewals, set appointments, receive test results and securely communicate with their healthcare providers and staff. In addition, NSUHMSIPA is offering webVisits® — secure, insurer-reimbursed online consultation between physicians and patients.

"We're honored to be working with such a prominent group of physicians at North Shore," noted Giovanni Colella, M.D., president of Consumer Solutions for McKesson Provider Technologies. "By working with world-class physicians who are committed to patient care and excellence, we can make a positive impact on the lives of New Yorkers."
