McKesson Announces Availability of its Lytec® 2008 system for Small Physician Practice Market

Lytec 2008Certified for Microsoft SQL Server 2005

ATLANTA, Feb. 4, 2008—─McKesson recently announced the availability of its Lytec® 2008 solution, a leading practice management software system. More than 30,000 physicians use a previous Lytec release every day to improve their revenue cycle management processes. The system helps physicians in small practices (one to five providers) to increase cash flow, reduce claim denials and enhance office productivity.

The 2008 release builds on the Lytec solution’s legacy of providing easy-to-use features such as customizable patient scheduling and enhanced reporting tools that give practices more insight into their operations and financial status. The new release also offers integration with McKesson’s Practice Partner® electronic health record (EHR) solution, as well as electronic data interchange (EDI) and consumer-facing solutions powered by RelayHealth, McKesson’s connectivity services company. The Lytec 2008 system is compatible with Windows Vista and certified for Microsoft SQL Server 2005.

“We are excited to bring together assets from across McKesson to offer small physician practices a single-vendor solution for their practice management, EHR and connectivity needs,” said David Henriksen, vice president and general manager, Physician Practice Solutions, McKesson Provider Technologies. “McKesson has an unprecedented opportunity to work with our large network of resellers and extensive practice management customer base to drive further EHR adoption and safer, more efficient patient care.”

Lytec Puts Award-Winning EHR Within Reach for Small Practices
With the 2008 release, the Lytec software integrates with McKesson’s Practice Partner Patient Records, an award-winning EHR system that was certified in 2007 by the Certification Commission for Healthcare Information Technology. Used by more than 1,800 practices, the Practice Partner solution is one of the most widely deployed EHRs nationwide and is known for its ability to help physicians, providers and administrators improve productivity and enhance quality of care.

Using industry-standard HL7 protocols, the integration between the Lytec 2008 solution and the Practice Partner solution enables the systems to share patient demographics as well as insurance and scheduling information. The integration removes the potential for transcription errors and eliminates the need for staff to enter duplicate data.

Lytec Offers RelayHealth® Services for Patient Convenience and Practice Efficiency
Lytec 2008 customers may choose to use RelayHealth consumer solutions to connect online with their patients, as well as RelayHealth EDI services to connect with payors. RelayHealth operates as a neutral partner in an open network environment.

The RelayHealth secure online connectivity service enables patients to ask non-urgent administrative and clinical questions. For example, patients may use the connectivity service to ask billing questions, review lab results, make appointments, and request prescription refills and renewals through the eScript™ electronic prescribing solution. The connectivity service also enables patients to consult with their physicians through a webVisit® consultation that may be reimbursed by leading payors.

RelayHealth EDI services enable providers to access real-time insurance eligibility information, process claims electronically and receive online remittance notification from payors. RelayHealth also offers paper statement processing services for providers who wish to outsource the printing and distribution of their patient statements.

“Small physician practices that are considering an EHR want one that is integrated with their practice management system,” said Willie Dabbs, president of Dabbs Computer Consultants, LLC, a Lytec reseller based in Nashville, Tenn. “The integration of Lytec 2008 with the Practice Partner solution, as well as the RelayHealth consumer solutions and EDI services, is a powerful, single-source solution that gives me a competitive differentiator in the market.”

Microsoft Platform Gives Lytec 2008 Latest Technology
Lytec 2008 is compatible with the Windows Vista operating system and is certified for the SQL Server 2005 data platform, providing a solid and scalable backbone. Windows Vista Business is the first Windows operating system designed specifically to meet the needs of small businesses. New navigational tools, search capabilities, fax and scan features, and connectivity technologies help small businesses work more efficiently.

“The easy, safe and connected experience of Windows Vista Business combined with the power of SQL Server 2005 enables McKesson to improve the way it delivers results to its small business customers,” said Eddie Amos, general manager for Global ISV Partners at Microsoft Corp. “Microsoft is pleased to continue to build on our long-standing alliance with McKesson.”
