RelayHealth and your software vendor introduce a new service that enables pharmacies to process third-party insurance claims over the public Internet — efficiently, effectively and securely. Quicker, more efficient claims transmission is achieved because the dial-up process for each claim is eliminated. In addition, other Internet-based capabilities like e-mail and Web-enabled reporting are readily available to those who choose to maximize the use of this technology (additional software components are required for e-mail and other Internet-based applications).
To provide secure pharmacy claims processing, eClaims uses SecureTrans to encrypt the data for transport over the Internet using industry-approved communication protocols. SecureTrans combines TCP/IP socket communication programs with Transport Layer Security (TLS version 1.0) programs to provide an easy solution for pharmacy vendors to quickly address Internet-related claims security within their practice management systems — without taking on the additional burden of writing proprietary encryption programs.
HIPAA Compliance
RelayHealth incorporates a high standard of encryption security features into eClaims Rx: 128-bit TLS version 1.0 security, which exceeds the 64-bit or 40-bit security typically used in the industry. Our security features comply with HIPAA and Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) guidelines and are incorporated to maximize safe, secure CMS claims transmission.
